NOTES
1. Only nine Erratics lined up against a full team of Mortlake Casuals.
2. On a pudding of a pitch, by the end of the 5th over, the Erratics were 6 for 3. A partnership of 53 between Brian Berrigan and Ben Etheridge restored some order to the innings, before Ben was unlucky to be well caught by the keeper down the leg side. Brian carried on the good work in a partnership of 48 with James Rivington, and was just winding up for his final onslaught when he miscued a skied catch to square leg. With Brian gone, the innings failed to gather momentum in the final overs.
3. Brian Berrigan bowled excellently with no luck at all. The only highlight was John Truscott’s excellent reaction slip catch off the spin bowling of Dan Beary, left-handed, millimetres off the ground, for which he receives an oscar nomination.
4. Summary: awful game, on an awful pitch, in an awful south London municipal park, on a gloomy September day. Not the way to finish the season.
