NARRATIVE
The Mihir Bose XI seems to have been made up of only X players.
The first three of Mihir Boses batsmen were each bowled for 0. Indeed, the Erratics bowlers hit the stumps an impressive seven times. Only 73 runs from the No. 6 gave the score any respectability. Some late resistance was ended when the last batsman was run out.
The Erratics innings had a solid platform. By the beginning of the 26th over, with five overs to go, 47 runs were still needed quite a steep target, but with eight wickets in hand. When Mike Long heaved the next ball from occasional Erratic Peter Oborne for six, his team mates were purring; then consternation as the 3rd and 4th wickets suddenly fall at 117 and 118, respectively; and then joyous disbelief as Andy Wallace hits the last ball of the over for seven (sic). The 27th over sees Andy score a single, six runs scrambled in assorted extras, and then Andy perish. In Obornes next over Felix Meller and Chris Dunabin trade singles, before Felix is trapped 134 for 6 and Martin Parsley prods at the last three balls. Now its an unlikely 22 off two; but Chris isnt giving up, and he spanks ten runs, and (with the bonus of a wide) were right on course! Eleven required off the 30th and final over, Martin facing: he manages to get the second ball away for a single, and Chris wallops the third for three. Seven needed off three balls, but the pressure is too much and Martin succumbs. Parsley junior shows he is made of sterner stuff, hitting the last ball of the match for four, but its alas not quite enough.
