| As last year, the V&A decision to bat second had been prompted by
the need of players to leave early. The No. 2 thrashed the opening Erratics bowling, scoring 51 (8 fours,
1 six) out of 62, before retiring. |
| The V&A continued to score freely, until the two Johns came on to
bowl and applied the screws. John T struck first, removing the other opener. Then the capture of four
wickets for 13 runs swung the balance of the game decisively, and the Erratics were fired with a
determination to prise out the last few batsmen. |
| When James toppled forward and sideways to get his fingers under the
ball at midwicket, the team acclaimed both an oscar nomination catch and the fact that there were six
overs left to take the winning wicket. Alas, the V&A pair proved to be limpets but the Erratics
could be pleased with an excellent team performance. |
