NARRATIVE
Good bowling and fielding, plus some variability in the pitch, kept the Charlbury score down. Tristan Ward (the eighth keeper used this season) took three catches behind the stumps, including a stunning full-stretch dive off the bowling of Felix Meller. Mark Hattam also took a good effort to give David Brook his second wicket. The innings collapsed from 97 for 7 to 97 all out.
In a quest for entertainment, captain James Rivington mixed up the batting order (amidst a certain amount of grumbling). With the score reaching 29 for 6, this policy was thoroughly vindicated. Ketz Haria joined Nasir Khawaja for a partnership of 20. Then Nasir and Tristan held their nerve, amid scenes of unbearable tension — until Tristan perished valiantly, with the score on 90 and just two overs to go. Victory was secured in the final over. Perfect.
